Motivation

There has been a noticeable decline in political engagement across universities. Seminar participation is decreasing, debates are becoming less frequent, and misinformation is increasingly shaping young adults' understanding of politics. PoliSense aims to address this gap through daily interactive questionnaires designed to stimulate political debate and simply make complex issues more accessible. Anonymised data will be collected to identify patterns in political engagement within the university, enabling further research on declining involvement. Our goal is to to not only re-engage students already interested in politics, but also to reach out to those who may feel disconnected from or are unfamiliar with the UK political landscape, creating a more informed and engaged student community.

Founders

Emma Codrea

Emma Codrea is a Politics and International Relations BSc student at the University of Southampton with a strong interest in data analysis and political participation. Motivated by the growing decline in student involvement, she has been part of the development to create a platform that not only serves as an accessible gateway to informed political discussion, but also uses data to better understand patterns of disengagement within the university community.

Yuliia Sliusarenko

Yuliia Sliusarenko is a second-year International Relations student interested in security, defence, and cultural diversity. Born in Ukraine and having lived in Barcelona, she brings a cross-cultural perspective to global politics.

In her first year, she observed growing political disengagement among young people. She believes politics lacks clarity and accessibility, not relevance. To address this, she co-founded a platform aimed at strengthening political literacy and empowering young people to engage confidently with global affairs.
